ESL (English as a Second Language)
Provision is made for those children who have little or no English. A specially trained ESL teacher takes small groups of children through many language based activities until they have reached a stage of confidence and security in both written and spoken language.
The children are assessed and assigned a phase - phase 1 being for those children who have no English and therefore require more support, up to phase 3, where the children are starting to grasp written and spoken English and require less support.
STL (Support Teaching Learning)
The school has the services of a STL who works with the children in small groups in Literacy and Numeracy as the need arises.
Homework
Homework is given to all classes. It is expected that the students will attempt to complete all set homework. Children are also encouraged to read each night. Parents are asked to help their children with reading. Please refer to "School Policies" and "homework" to read the full Policy.
Mandarin & Hindi
Mandarin and Hindi classes are held for all children in the school. Mandarin is taught to non-native speakers and native speakers whilst Hindi is mainly for native speakers.
