Gifted and Talented (G & T) Program:
At
Purpose
This policy serves students who are
gifted, their teachers, parents and carers.
It establishes our shared responsibility
to ensure that these students are provided with opportunities to
meet their needs and to achieve their potential.
Identification
The
identification of gifted and talented students is a process in which
all teaching staff have a part, but it is overseen and co-ordinated
by the Principal and Co-ordinator for Gifted and Talented students
in consultation with class teachers.
The
process must be ongoing and cater for underachievers and those with
disabilities.
The
identification process includes:

Tests results from Basic Skills Tests, external tests, eg: NSW
University Competitions and end of year assessment tasks.)

Parental nomination
-
Teacher assessment.

Underachieving and late developers are identified through the
comparison and analysis of pupil achievement data.
