Principal’s News:

Our Multi-Cultural lunch in Education Week was a huge success. We are a close school community especially when everyone has to huddle under the COLA because of the weather. As one parent said “here is the whole world in one place”. Thank you to everyone who brought in the yummy food for us to share. Thank you to Miss Kitson who came back for a visit from her leave as a very entertaining story teller for the K-2 Pyjama Party.

Well done to our school representatives in the National Chinese Eisteddfod. In the non native speakers’ competition our 8-12 year old team came Second and our 4-7 year old team came First. In the native speakers’ competition our 7-9 year old team came Third, our 4-6 year old team came Second and our 10-12 year old team came First (beating Sydney Boys High). In the individual competition Angela Deegan and Michelle Zhou both came First, Annie Tu and Daniel Ou both came Second and Callum Irving came Third in their categories. Our four first places, four second places and two third places are a great achievement for West Ryde Public School. Congratulations to all students involved and to Mrs Chen for being the most outstanding teacher of Mandarin in the country.

For the National School Pride Program we have been allocated $125,000 from the Commonwealth Government. This is not as much funding as we had anticipated but it will help to get some much needed maintenance such as painting our buildings and classrooms.

Dear Parents,

1.    If you can recommend a company to give a quote for the painting please provide the contact details to Mr. Yates.

2.    There will be an aboriginal performance on June 30. Details will be sent home soon.

3.    There will be a cake stall each Thursday at recess over the next four weeks to raise money for Stage 3.
