Peer Support:

The school offers an ongoing Peer Support Program, run by the Year 6 children. Following two (2) days of training, each teacher supervises Year 6 leaders working with a small group of students from Kindergarten to Year 5 on a number of structured activities. Each week the groups meet for 30 minutes, and this year we will learn about Being Positive.

This module equips the students with the ability to approach life optimistically and to develop resilience with which to deal with difficult experiences. Concepts such as friendship. co-operation, empathy, perseverance, assertiveness, positive self talk and problem solving are dealt with.

This eight (8) week program runs during Term 2, and is an opportunity for Year 6 leaders to develop responsibility and take on a caring role. It allows for small groups of children of different ages to get to know each other better, therefore building connections and providing children in the school with a greater sense of security.
